The purpose of this site is to begin an exploration of the idea of shifgrethor. Shifgrethor comes from the Ursula K Le Guin, Nebula and Hugo Award winning book the Left Hand of Darkness. It’s a concept that explains how a different civilization communicates and interacts not just socially but politically as well.
Is it better?
Shifgrethor is an old word for shadow, the idea is that light and darkness are two sides of the same coin and that to measure yourself against others you’re taking the whole impact of your actions, good and bad, with all your humanity and accepting it.
